Mite 4v4 provides young players with additional opportunities to play, develop their skills, and build their love for the game. Designed to complement association hockey, this program offers extra ice time in a fun and development-focused environment.

Mite 4x4

The Mite 4v4 League is not a youth hockey association program. It is designed to complement association hockey by providing players with additional ice time, puck touches, and game experience in a fun, development-focused environment. The league is intended to enhance, not replace, a player's association hockey experience.

Team names may not use youth hockey association names, logos or other association-related branding.

Player Requirements

Players registering for Winter Mite 4v4 should:

  • Have previous skating experience
  • Be able to stand and skate independently
  • Be able to get on and off the ice without assistance
  • Be comfortable participating in a game environment
  • Have all required hockey protective equipment

Players who are brand new to skating should participate in a Learn to Skate or introductory hockey program before registering for 4v4.


Season Details

Winter Mite 4v4 League gives young players an opportunity to get additional fast-paced game action throughout the winter season.

  • 13 games
  • One game per week
  • Up to 13 players per team
  • Individual registration only
  • Co-ed
  • No practices

Game Format

Each game is scheduled in a 50-minute session:

  • 2-minute warm-up
  • 22-minute running-time period
  • 1-minute intermission
  • 22-minute running-time period

Four skaters and one goalie are on the ice for each team.

The format is designed to keep play moving with limited stoppages and maximize the amount of time players are actively involved in the game.

  • Registration

    Open through Nov. 8

    No team registration. All players must register individually.

  • Teams/Players

    Levels: Termite & Supermite
    Teams: 6 per level
    Players: 78 per level

  • Game Times

    5:15, 6:15 or 7:15 PM.

    We will make every effort to schedule later game times for teams traveling longer distances to Byron. However, with six teams and 13 games to schedule, later times cannot be guaranteed. All teams should be prepared to play at any scheduled game time.

Equiptment
nine HOCKEY follows USA Hockey equipment requirements and safety recommendations. All participants are responsible for providing and wearing the required protective equipment during on-ice activities.

Level Options

nine HOCKEY reserves the right to adjust player placement when necessary to help create competitive and developmentally appropriate divisions..

All players will register individually, and all teams and final rosters will be created by nine HOCKEY.

Termite | 6U

The Termite division is generally intended for players ages 5-6.

Players should have previous skating experience and be comfortable participating independently in a game environment.

This division is designed for younger Mite players who are continuing to develop their skating, puck skills, positioning and confidence.

Termite games will be played on the following dates:

Supermite | 8U

The Supermite division is generally intended for players ages 7-9.

This level provides faster and more competitive 4v4 game play for experienced Mite players.

Some younger Termite-aged players may be appropriate for the Supermite division if they have advanced skating ability, hockey skills and game experience.

Supermite games will be played on the following dates:
