Leaders On and Off the Ice

At nine HOCKEY, our goal is to provide a year-round, positive, and competitive ice hockey experience for boys and girls. We focus on developing individual skills and enhancing hockey sense through comprehensive on-ice and off-ice training by serving young players across southeastern Minnesota and beyond, giving them more chances to grow, develop, and thrive.

WHO WE ARE

TIM & MELISSA GERLESBERGER

Tim and Melissa grew up in Rochester, Minnesota, where their passion for sports, especially hockey, was sparked on backyard rinks and family games. Tim graduated from Mayo High School, competing in hockey and baseball and earning a spot in the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament and Mayo's Wall of Fame. Melissa, a Lourdes High School alum, excelled in soccer and softball throughout her youth. Today, as parents to two hockey-loving boys, Liam and Eli, they appreciate the dedication, joy, and friendships the sport creates.

For over 15 years, Tim has coached players from mites to high school, focusing on skill development and character growth. His guiding principle: “If I’ve coached you once, I’ll be your coach forever.”

Through nine HOCKEY, Tim and Melissa strive to give back to the game that shaped their lives. Their goal is to inspire young athletes to embrace the excitement of hockey and the lifelong bonds it builds, while helping southeastern Minnesota reclaim its hockey tradition.

ERIC & RACHEL PETERSEN

Eric and Rachel live in Byron, Minnesota, with their two boys, Zachary and Collin. Both love hockey and stay busy on the ice while also being active in the local community. Eric graduated from Mayo High School in Rochester, Minnesota, where he also played baseball and hockey at the varsity level. Rachel, a Blaine High School graduate, focused and trained as a competitive dancer through college.

Eric’s early love for hockey grew into more than two decades of coaching experience. He has worked with youth associations and AAA programs, guiding players of all ages to improve their skills and confidence.

Eric and Rachel are committed to helping athletes build their game and strengthen their character as part of nine HOCKEY’s vision. They are passionate about creating an environment where players grow into resilient, capable individuals and have every opportunity to reach their full potential—on and off the ice.
